Season Rankings

The 2009 / 2010 Youth Poetry Slam Season is based on a points system that rewards competition results, consistency and participation. There are 5 open preliminary slams throughout the season (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb and March). Poets who place in the top three at a prelim, earn points (3 points for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd place) towards making it to April Grand Slam.

There are also “participation” points available for poets who volunteer to perform at Worcester Youth Slam Fund-Raising Events and Showcases. The system tries to create a reward system for slamming, both well & often. The Worcester Youth Poetry Slam will award a special prize for the top season point scorer. Points may also be weighted when selecting order for Grand Slam Finals.
